Ranjit Singh : Maharaja Of The Punjab

Maharaja Ranjit Singh (1780?1839) was the founder and leader of the Sikh Empire, which ruled much of the Punjab region in the early 19th century. Known as the “Lion of Punjab,” he united various Sikh misls (military confederacies) and established a powerful, independent state. His reign was marked by military victories, the modernization of the army, and religious tolerance. Ranjit Singh is credited with promoting economic growth, strengthening infrastructure, and fostering a multi-ethnic and multi-religious society. His leadership made the Sikh Empire a dominant force in South Asia before it was annexed by the British in 1849, a decade after his death.
